What Should You Expect on Your First Visit With Whole Family Chiropractic?
Most people go to the doctor because they think they have something they shouldn't have, and want to get rid of it. Many chiropractors have found, however, that the problem when you aren't feeling well is not that you have something you shouldn't, but that you've lost something you need. You've lost something you need in order to be healthy and for your body to work the way it's supposed to.
One of things we find that a person has commonly lost is the ability to organize all the different parts of his or her body. As you may know, organization occurs when the brain is able to connect to and communicate with all the different parts of the body. If this communication is lost, a person's health is lost as well.
As the brain is communicating with the body, all the messages must travel through the spinal cord in order to do so. This holds true for messages leaving the brain going out to the body, and for messages traveling from the body up to the brain. All of these messages travel along nerves that enter and exit the spinal cord between the bones of the spine. Since both the spinal cord and these nerves have such an intimate relationship with the bones of the spine, the health of your spine also determines the health of your nerve system. This in turn determines the level of communication between the brain and the body.
In order to maintain a clear connection between the brain and the body, your spine must be aligned and functioning properly. If normal alignment and function is lost, the connection between your brain and body is partially lost as well. The goal of the first visit is to find out if this alignment and function has been lost in your spine or your child's spine.
The tests and examination on the first visit are therefore not designed to see if you have something you shouldn't have and need to get rid of. Instead, they are designed to see if you've lost something you need...if you've lost normal alignment and function of your spine. The examination performed on the first visit is very safe and very gentle. Everything is explained throughout the visit, so you can feel very comfortable in knowing exactly what is going on.
The importance of each of these tests will be explained to you at your Report of Findings. However, it is important to note that this examination helps scientifically understand the subluxation processes going on in your spine. It also gives us a baseline for future tests so we can accurately measure your progress to see how your spine is correcting and your nervous system is functioning. Using these examination procedures is much more accurate than just depending on "how you feel" on any given day.
You will be scheduled for your Report of Findings within a few days of your initial visit. This visit is your most important visit. It is at your Report of Findings that we will give you a care plan and go over any special instructions you will need to obtain the best and fastest possible results. We have set aside specific times for these visits so as not to interfere with regular patient care hours. We will schedule your Report of Findings with you after your first visit.
